How Much of Email is Spam?

I’ve been monitoring how much of the email that comes to our Exchange server is spam. Guess how much? 85-90% of the email our Exchange Server processes is SPAM! My guess is we are not all that much higher than other small/mid sized companies. That is  powerful argument for an edge spam catcher!

Very Interesting. That's really close to emypeople's percentage as well. Out of approximately 39 million messages only 2.9 million were classified as not spam.

Very interesting Kirb. You use barracuda for antispam? I'd like to here what you think about the appliance.

yes. we use two barracuda spam & virus appliances in a load-balanced, fail-over mode. One is in Harrisburg, PA and the other is in British Columbia, Canada. They do an unbelievable job. Rock solid & dependable, and they take a huge load off of the mail server. I'm not sure how the filtering would compare to exchange or forefront, but I do know that we filter mail for some businesses and deliver it to their internal exchange server.

ha. Thanks for the reminder. I don't get down the way very often any more, but next time I do, I'll try to hunt you up. :)
