Yesterday Microsoft gave the direction of the Microsoft Small Business Financials product. The exciting news is that the next generation small business financials solution is in the works!
Why is this news great?
#1 Microsoft says the next generation SBF will be branded as a "Dynamics" product which means it will continue to be sold and supported via the partner channel (as a product of this complexity should be). Will the name be "Dynamics Small Business Financials"? Microsoft did not indicate any specific name yet.
#2 According to Microsoft it will be a different code base from the exsisting SBF, based on SQL, and accomodate international versions better than the current SBF 9.0. Also, I think we can safely also assume it will be based on .Net technologies. (Great!)
#3 Since this is the "next version" of SBF, all users on a current support plan will get this product just like any "next version" of SBF. While Microsoft continues to work on this next generation product, SBF 9.0 refreshes, fixes, payroll updates & support will continue to be delivered.
